Hundreds of butterflies were released, at the dedication of a new Butterfly Garden yesterday as the children of the school cheered them on. The Junior Preschool, Senior Preschool and Kindergarten children of the school were in attendance as the new garden was dedicated to the school. The garden is the gift of the Hilda Bacardi family as part of the school’s environmental science curriculum and the school’s current capital campaign effort.

One of the most unforgettable days in the life of a Kindergartener is the Wedding of Q and U! Why would Q and U get married, you ask? Well, if you ask Kindergarteners, they’ll tell you that they’re letter buddies of course and that Q cannot live without U. This is a culminating celebration of letter sounds, letter buddies and decoding skills. To honor the skill development of sound differentiation and to emphasize that the Consonant Q and the Vowel U are forever wed, Rantz Hall becomes a wedding venue, and a “marriage” celebration takes place, complete with gifts, a court, a king and queen, and a reception! The guests of honor wear their Sunday’s best and our own Fr. Mario performs the ceremony!

As part of our Ocean Life unit, Kindergarten boarded the yellow buses and visited the Miami Seaquarium on Wednesday, April 25th. A wonderful field trip was had by all! The children attended the sea lion show, experienced the reef aquarium, and had a chance to pet a sting ray. Some children were lucky enough to get splashed by the dolphins! Lunch was enjoyed under the shade before watching the killer whale show. Everyone was exhausted after such a fun-filled time, but we all agreed that it was a wonderful kindergarten field trip!
